Working From Home: Let the beauty of what you love be what you do.

It’s been said again and again but these are truly unusual times. As many communities around the world prepare to send their children back to school, many families are choosing alternate back to school and back to work options. For those fortunate enough to be able to work from home, this may mean keeping the kids home too. Whether a compromised immune system, elderly high risk family members or just keeping the bubble small, staying home doesn’t have to mean sacrificing style or comfort. In the early days of Covid-19 lockdown measures, many of us were self isolating for the first time ever. For most of us, we were a little ‘caught off guard’ to say the least. In fact even these terms were new for many of us…..social distancing….sheltering in place…what?!! But as our new normal settles in, we face lives with different challenges and understandably want to keep whatever healthy routines we can while adapting to this ongoing ever changing reality. If you’re a stay at home parent, maybe a new mother, dealing with the already isolating world of motherhood, new to breastfeeding, sleep deprivation, changing diapers and all the accompanying hardships of those particularly difficult months, the challenges are even greater. Especially during this time when the much needed support network of other new moms, friends or the help of loved ones is so integral yet for most, unavailable now. It’s important to be gentle with ourselves, to do our best and letting that be good enough. It’s also crucial to remember our own ‘oxygen mask’ must go on first and then we can be available to others.

Working from home has it’s own unique challenges starting with getting out of our pyjamas in the first place! Many other factors like being able to stick to a routine, separate work from play, knowing when to take breaks, getting fresh air and staying hydrated can easily fall by the wayside. Our Yoga Wear for Women and Unisex apparel provides an easy effortless clothing option which gives you one less thing to think about at a time when our brains seem to always be on overdrive. A classic pair of bamboo harem pants and a t-shirt are comfortable ways to look put together and can cross over from your morning stretch to your last minute virtual office meeting. Need to spruce it up even more? Take your outfit to the next level by adding a Siddhi Cardi layer to that t-shirt and look even more professional. No time to wash your hair? The following tips can be helpful if home is where you’re at. If you’re sitting at a desk for long periods of time, it’s a good idea to set a reminder on your phone to let you know it’s time to get up and move your body. Or time to drink a glass of water, or close your eyes and take some deep breaths. We can’t always change the circumstances in our lives but we can choose what we think about them. Making the best of what’s going on is the smartest and smoothest way to live. Finding the perks of working from home or home schooling our kids can make all the difference in how we show up for ourselves and our families. Perhaps it’s avoiding a long commute to the office, being able to do a few sun salutations because your yoga mat is right beside your desk (most likely not the case at the office depending on where you work!).

Being able to prepare healthier meals at home, saving money on last minute rushed coffees and snacks as well as skipping that hectic morning rush. Getting the kids up and out the door can maybe be replaced with a calmer more gentler approach with virtual or home learning. Breaks throughout the day and possibly lunch together as a family is a rarity that we may never know again. Finding the small gifts in any and all ways we can, wherever we are, whatever our circumstances.

Yes these are strange times but these are also times with huge potential for change and growth. Taking a different approach, adjusting how we perceive all the ‘difficulties’, keeping what works and letting go of what doesn’t, we can and will do what we have to do in order to thrive. We’ve always done things a little differently at Siddhiwear, focusing on the small things we can do. By making our clothes locally, by hand in small batches, using eco friendly premium fabric, eco friendly inks and packaging, we can feel good about our Yoga Wear for Women and Unisex apparel and we pretty much live in our best selling Bamboo Harem pants, Bamboo Toques or Beanies and now our beautiful bamboo masks too…..at work, at home and when the two are one.

We’ve never lived through a Global pandemic before, the world may never be the same and that can be so scary to think about, but we can be hopeful for the new world to come. Let’s learn to be compassionate to ourselves and others. Let’s embrace what lies ahead, let’s rise up and do what we have to do. Let us uplevel our self care, for our families, our friends, our communities and even strangers. We all share this human existence, this planet, these odd circumstances……what if we embraced it? What if we were steadfast and thorough and remembered our true nature? One race, the human race all coming together to evolve to the next and better version of ourselves
